Music is a discipline, and a mistress of order and good manners,
she makes the people milder and gentler, more moral and more reasonable.
Martin Luther (1483 - 1546)
Well, perhaps not always quite as above, and certainly quite the opposite
in the case of most of the songs you can find below: usually (more than) a
little rough (not only) at the edges, invariably and sometimes mysteriously
linked to good and bad times, for
After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.
Aldous Huxley (1894 - 1963)
It'll thus be hardly surprising if "my" songs below frequently happen NOT
to be the "best" (whatever this might mean) songs I've been listening to
over the years, but rather those whose lyrics or general spirit seemed to
point to something interesting for me at that time.
Likewise, my choosing a song a song doesn't necessarily imply that I
enthustiastically endorse(d) the concepts therein expressed (even if I
admit this is/was mostly the case), but simply means that I think/thought
they are/were worth thinking about.
Enjoy (or otherwise), then, and "Fight for your mind!" (Ben Harper, 1995)
